John and I kept asking each other, "are you sure you don't have twins in your family!"
These things simply did not just happen. We kept going over it in our minds... It took us a couple of months for it to sink in that we were going to have twins... because we were simply in shock. But there was still more to come...
Not only were we going to have twins, but there were problems with the babies... we needed to go to a specialist to find out what we were going to be dealing with...
One year ago today we had that appointment. It was during the doctor appointment where we heard the words 'mono-mono' Little did we know it, as the doctor put it oh so gently, "these are the worst kind of twins you can have."

One year ago today we had that appointment. It was during the doctor appointment where we heard the words 'mono-mono' Little did we know it, as the doctor put it oh so gently, "these are the worst kind of twins you can have."
My heart sank... mono-mono. These words would follow us for the next 3 months. Our babies were sharing the same amniotic sac and the same placenta which would lead to a very rare, high risk & possibly fatal pregnancy. No one wants to find out that the little babies you are caring might not make it. And there is nothing, absolutely nothing that you can do about it.
I left the doctors office that day in tears, tears of fear, tears of faith & tears of joy. This was the beginning of a journey of faith & complete surrender of our fears. What happened over the next few weeks was nothing short of amazing. We both spent hours researching and hours praying. It was like nothing I had experienced before and one I can hardly put into words.
All we could do was take one day at a time. Hope and pray. Pray and hope that it would work out. Knowing that God would give us, put us though, what we could handle.
We are so thankful it worked out as it did. These precious, adorable little girls are so very much loved!
And again, we thought...
how did this happen?

Doctor's Appointment
The girls had their 8 month checkup to see how they're doing. 8 months sounds strange right? Well that's one of the joys of premies, extra checkups. Ugh.
I suppose it's not to bad considering the girls haven't (knock on wood) been sick yet. The doctor couldn't believe it that they haven't been sick!
Evie and Ada getting ready to head to the doctor.
Evie is all smiles
Ada still pretty happy.
They obviously don't realize yet what it means to go to the doctor, otherwise they probably wouldn't be smiling like this.
Actually they love their doctor, so do we. We switched doctors when the girls were about 3 months old and we couldn't be happier about the change. It's hard to find a doctor that really understands your needs.
I'm sure you want to know all the stat's and facts, well here's the important ones:
Ada
Weight - 12 lbs
Length - 25 3/4 in
Evie
Weight - 11 lbs 14 oz
Length - 25 3/4 in
The doctor said he couldn't be happier with their growth and developments!
Ada getting weighed, she didn't love the scale.
Evie, she just wanted Mama to pick her back up.
Evie getting measured. She was very cooperative.
Ada getting measured
Ada after her appointment.
That's kind of a smile...
All in all the doctor's visit went well and the girls are doing great. But I could've told you that before!

Abundance of pink
The girls wore their cute pink dresses from Grandma and Grandpa Roberts.
It was so cute.
It was almost like an explosion of pink!
Ada and Evie
Pink dresses, pink tights, oh my!
Evie invading Ada's personal space.
This didn't end well. Lots of tears.
Evie ended up pushing off to roll over using Ada's face.
Ada playing in the curtains
She knows she's not supposed to do this, that's why she waits until I'm not looking to roll over there.
Have I mentioned that I'm in no rush for them to start crawling?
A pretty serious Evie
Ada
Ada was trying to pull Evie's necklace.
Evie didn't mind, because she was trying to pull on the camera strap.
It took quiet a few photos just to get this...
We used to have a wine rack in the island kitchen. We had to make some changes since the girls have become more mobile and are acquiring some toys.
We no longer have a wine rack...
They're getting good about rolling over to the island and pulling toys down.
Ada playing with her car seat toy.
They don't really like it on their car seat because they can't suck on the toys, so they have started to use it with the rest of their toys.
Ada helping Mama with laundry.
Evie playing airplane!
They LOVE to play airplane.
It involves holding them up in the air while we lay on our backs and move them around while making our "airplane sound"
John's informed me that my airplane sound actually sounds nothing like an airplane.
I told him that the girls like it and that's all that matters.
Goof ball. That's all I can say.
The girls "sharing" their toys.
Ada took a nice long nap so Evie got some time to play by herself while we cooked dinner.
Evie spun around and around. Notice the blanket.
Evie enjoyed her only child time...
Don't they look so darn cute in their pink?

Ready to go
Ada is all ready to go!
Check it out, she's up on all four. Both girls have been getting up on all four like this and rocking. They then push themselves forward and fall. It's SOOO cute.
Evie practicing in bed. She uses the crib to push up against.
The way that the girls "use" their cribs, we're lucky that they're still standing.
They kick it, they chew on it, the push on it, they use it as a jungle gym.
Yet for some reason they cry every night when we put them to bed, except last night of course.
Instead of crying they laid in bed talking and laughing for about an hour before they started crying.
Evie
Ada
She's so serious!
Ok, one more...

First walk of the season
The girls got their first walk of the season. They were really goofy about it.
They did not look to happy about the whole situation.
They pulled out their oh so cute pouty lips.
They didn't appreciate the stiff breeze.
They would get all goofy and act like they can't breath!
What goof balls.
They did crack a smile about midway through. We did have to give them a toy to keep them entertained. Of course they feel asleep about 2 minutes before we got home and they thought that those 2 minutes were good enough for an afternoon nap.
Evie
I think the girls are going to keep their big blue eyes...
The girls love to play with their toy bucket. It's not necessarily the toys in the bucket that they're interested in, they want to chew on the bucket and the rope.
I think it's time to get a new container for their toys.

Grandma and Grandpa Roberts
Grandma and Grandpa Roberts came to visit again. The girls always enjoy it because Grandma and Grandpa let them do whatever they want, like play with necklaces, glasses, pull on hair, you get the point!
Grandma and Evie
Evie trying to get Grandma's necklace.
Ada getting Grandpa's mustache.
She loved the mustache! John will not be growing one though.
Evie and Grandpa
Grandma playing with Evie
Holding hands
Evie's serious look.
Evie's REALLY serious look.
Ada eating her toes.
It was a nice visit from Grandma and Grandpa and the girls are excited about them coming again.

Magazine time
Ada still loves her magazines.
She gets a little cranky when she can't get to "her" magazines.
She prefers the Real Simple magazine. Not sure why, probably because that's the one her Mama likes.
We have to watch to make sure she doesn't eat the paper.
And we don't want to leave Evie out today.
Look, they're finally getting a little bit of hair!
Whenever anyone asks about their hair John always says "That's an upgrade we didn't pay for."
Soon he won't get to tell people that.
Thank goodness...

Couple of pictures
Nothing exciting going on today, so just a couple of pictures.
This picture is pretty misleading...
Evie looks HUGE compared to Ada, she's not. They're still the same size, Evie just wouldn't lay still!
There Carter's goes again, more things on the butt!
It's pretty cute though.
The girls were playing with Daddy. They barely even noticed that he was there, they were fighting over some toy. Some how Ada always manages to lose a sock, she just can't keep it on.
So adorable!
