Food

Sarah was very worried about the food situation at the hospital.
Well her fears have been alleviated!
She is eating quiet well here at the hospital.  Here's her dinner tonight.

Salmon
Mashed potatoes
Green beans (2 orders)
Jell-O
Angel Food Cake with Strawberries

For lunch she had
Cheeseburger w/ lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, & ketchup
French Fries
Rice Crispy treat
Veggie plate w/ ranch
Jell-O
Cranberry Juice

Breakfast
3 fried eggs
Hash-browns with cheese
Bacon
Cranberry Juice

In other words, she's getting plenty to eat today.
The Dietitian visited today and was very impressed with Sarah's diet.

She's definitely not starving here.

Hospital

So Sarah had her 28 week appointment yesterday and never left...
Yep, she's been hospitalized for monitoring.  We were expecting this but it's still a bit much to be admitted to the hospital.  She's been put in one of the high risk OB rooms.
Before admitting her to the hospital she had her ultrasound.  They could see that the blood flow from the cords is good, but they can see that one is getting less blood then the other so this will need monitoring.
So once she was admitted they did her first monitoring.  They put 3 monitors on her stomach, one for her uterus, one for baby A and one for baby B.
The monitor on the uterus picked up contractions so that of course raised some concerns.
So they put her on an IV to help hydrate her.  That didn't help.
Then they gave her a shot with some drug to help lower the contractions.  This seemed to help, but they're still seeing them.  So they'll have to do monitoring 3 times a day and they'll do 2 ultrasounds a week as well.
So now she'll be in the hospital until hopefully week 32 when they'll do a C-section.

Don't worry, she already said that the food is really good, so she'll be eating just fine.

Baby A
Heart Rate - 145
Weight 2 lbs 8 oz

Baby B
Heart Rate - 152
Weight 2 lbs 5 oz

Naked Babies

We no longer have to worry about having naked babies!
John's parents brought down 3 big tubs of baby clothes from his sister, she has a 2 yr old daughter.
WOW hand me downs are nice!

That's a whole lot of pink and purple!

They also brought down some new premie outfits and onesies for the babies when they're in the NICU!

So no more worries about NAKED BABIES!

A visit

Thursday John's parents came to visit to see us.  It was really nice to see them.  They were pretty excited to see how big Sarah's gotten and to see the nursery and everything.

We were able to just sit around and talk and then went out to eat for a REALLY good meal.  Sarah just wanted a good steak, so that's what we got!

They also brought down a father's day gift for John, a brand new grill.  He was pretty excited and spent a couple hours today putting it together.

They plan on coming down again of course to visit when Sarah's in the hospital.  John's dad was pretty excited when he heard the hospital has 24 hr. room service!

Women's Hospital

On Monday a new hospital is opening in town, the Methodist Women's hospital.  Yes a $150 million hospital designed for women services, primarily delivering babies!  Last weekend they had an open house that we attended since this is the hospital that Sarah will deliver at because of their specialization in high risk deliveries.

Let me tell you, it was pretty impressive.

It started by when we walked in the door they gave Sarah a bouquet of gerber daisies and a map.  It was all self guided so we could check out the place.  They had nurses all over to answer any questions as well.

We had the chance to see the high risk OB rooms that Sarah will be admitted into for monitoring, they were FREAKIN" HUGE!

Then we checked out the surgery area where the C-section will be performed.  They have 2 operating rooms dedicated to C-sections and are setup to deliver twins.

The NICU was large and they've expanded 26 beds from the old location.  They have special rooms for multiples so they can stay in the same room.  They also include in room sleeping area for the parents if they decide to stay at the hospital.

We also got a chance to see the recovery rooms and all the other features.  Lots of small things that will really add up I'm sure when Sarah's there, like 24 hr room service, a rooftop garden, wi-fi internet, a refrigerator in room, and even a chair in the large shower.

So in other words, this hospital knows there's BIG money to be made in babies!

You can check it out for yourself here.

Updates

So we've been a little behind on posting, sorry!  So here's the updates of what's going on:

Week 26 Doctor's appointment

This was an appointment with the OB.  Just a check up, no ultrasound.  The babies had good healthy heartbeats, in the 150's.  The doctor determined that Sarah shouldn't work anymore and she needs to just rest, not full bed rest luckily (that might driver her completely nuts) but just rest at home.

Week 27 Doctor's appointment

We met with the Peri this week for another ultrasound.  No full measurements, they just wanted to check on the babies.  They got the heart rates, in the low 160's, and checked the blood flow from the cords.  The doctor was in the room for about a whole 5 min. to determine that they still don't have a need to hospitalize her, but ensured her that next week Tuesday, week 28, she will most likely be admitted to the new hospital.  The doctor also commented that she must be doing well since Sarah "still has ankles" and "you can breath laying down still"

So for now he sent her back home and told her to pack her bags!

Dr. Appointment week 25

Sarah had her week 25 appointment with the Peri Dr. He said that everything is going great.
2 weeks ago when we saw him, he kept mentioning hospitalization at week 26, this week, didn't even mention hospitalization.  Guess he was surprised by how well everything is going!

Babies Weight
A - 1lb 11 oz
B - 1lb 13 oz
(this is average size for a single baby)

Heart Rates
A - 168
B - 149

So everything is going as good as we can hope for at this time.

This is Sarah's new trick...

Balancing salsa on her belly.
